Who We Are
Dr Isabel Picornell is Director of QED Limited. She holds a PhD in Forensic Linguistics from the Centre for Forensic Linguistics, Aston University, Birmingham (UK) and is a Visiting Research Fellow with the Aston Institute for Forensic Linguistics at the same University. She is Vice President of the International Association of Forensic Linguists, a member of the Germanic Society for Forensic Linguistics, and a certified Fraud Examiner (Association of Certified Fraud Examiners).
Since 2003, Dr Picornell has worked on cases involving authorship analysis and deceptive communication in many different contexts and in a variety of media. She has provided investigative reports for forensic labs, corporate investigators, and legal firms in the UK and overseas, and has provided Expert Reports for tribunals and civil courts in the UK.
Dr Picornell's academic research interests include deception and authorship style in faked contexts and she has presented on these subjects at conferences worldwide. Dr Picornell provides training in forensic linguistics as an investigative tool to the anti-fraud and intelligence industry and to academia. She has taught at and directed the International Summer School in Forensic Linguistic Analysis and is co-director of the Short Course in Forensic Linguistics at the University of Cologne, Germany.
All QEDforensics analysts hold doctorates in Forensic Linguistics and are experts in their fields. These include authorship analysis, linguistic profiling, non-native English speaker profiling, identifying faked modes of production, and deceptive linguistic strategies.
